Frequently Asked Questions

What is an non-diagnostic 3D 4D Ultrasound scan?

Our scans are a wonderful way of seeing and bonding with your baby before he or she is born. 3D 4D scans were developed as a result of growing demand from parents wanting to see their baby in a calm and relaxing environment.

Often hospital scans are rushed due to time constraints whereas we give you plenty of time to enjoy the moment you see your baby for the first time

During the scan you will be able to hear the baby's heartbeat,

the option of purchasing keepsake pictures and recordings so that you can relive this special moment over and over.

How does a non-diagnostic 3D/4D Ultrasound scan session differ from my prenatal providers diagnostic ultrasound exam?

During your 3D/4D scan with us, you will have lots of time to look at wonderful lifelike images of your baby on our huge plasma screen. See every detail of your beautiful baby as he or she moves around in the womb.

Whilst a prenatal diagnostic scan is sufficient for medical purposes you often don't have a lot of time to view your baby on the screen and some hospitals are not equipped with screens at all.

Most prenatal scans are in 2D which whilst perfect for diagnostic purposes do not capture the wonderment of the life growing inside you. Our 3D/4D scans allow you to see your baby in amazing detail and connect on a higher level.

We produce clear coloured images and can give you photos and DVDs to take away with you so that you can cherish these special moments and share them with your friends and family. It should be noted that our scans are non-medical and we are unable to carry out scans for any purpose other than for the recording of your baby's image and heartbeat. However, in most cases we can let you know the sex of your baby if you wish to know

Will the 3D/4D ultrasound be able to tell if my baby is a boy or a girl?

Our expert equipment, namely the GE Voluson 730 Expert, uses advanced 3D/4D ultrasound technology and allows us to find out the gender of your baby.

It is up to you whether you wish us to impart this knowledge so simply let us know at the beginning of the scan whether you want to know the sex of your baby or you would rather wait to find out. We are great at keeping secrets

What type of 3D/4D Ultrasound Equipment does seeyourbaby use?

Is my non-diagnostic 3D/4D Ultrasound SAFE?

Absolutely!

Ultrasound has been used safely in obstetrics for over 35 years. During this time there has never been any documented report of harm coming to either baby or mother before or after the birth.

We use similar technology to that which is available in most hospitals and there are no invasive or dangerous procedures involved.

The ultrasound beam causes no harm to you or your baby and is a great way of performing checks and in the case of 3D/4D scans, reproducing amazing images of your baby to cherish forever.

What is the best time of my pregnancy to schedule my non-diagnostic prenatal 3D/4D ultrasound?

We recommend that a 3D/4D scan is performed between weeks 23 and 33 of your pregnancy. This is the time when the fat on your baby becomes more dense allowing very detailed images to be taken.Between 26 and 33 weeks, your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face.

Facial features will also be more prominent allowing for some great facial expressions that can cause much amusement.Your precious moments will be recorded onto DVD for you to take away and keep.

After 33 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room.

Imagine sharing those amazing first images of your little one with friends and family.

I am having twins,can I still have a 4D scan ?

Yes, you can. You will need to book your 4D baby scan slightly earlier at around 24 weeks gestation as there is less space to scan your baby later on.

How many people can I bring with me ?

There are 2 sofas in the scan room, which will provide seating for a maximum of 5 guests. Children are very welcome to attend the scan.

Do I need a full bladder for the scan ?

No, it isn't necessary for a 4D scan. It may be useful to bring chocolate or a sugary drink with you to encourage the baby to move if it isn't in a favourable position..

How much time should I allow for the 3D/4D scan ?

you should arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment for your 3D and 4D ultrasound scan to fill out registration forms etc.

The appointment length for our 3D and 4D scans is 30 to 45 minutes depending on which package you choose. This is to allow for scanning and preparation of DVD, CD Rom and prints.

Our policy is not to exceed the scanning time beyond 30 minutes. Usually the scanning time will range from 10-30 minutes to allow for a 5, 10 or 15 minute recording. As your baby may not be in an ideal position on arrival the length of appointment will allow time for the baby to change position.

You will also have time to move or walk around in order to get the best views of the baby.
